About The Flurrys in São Paulo, Brazil
A dear missionary friend once told me a great definition to being a missionary: "doing what you were doing for God but in a different location." We felt this explanation definetly helps us explain our ministry in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Kevin uses his gifts in Business Administration and Marketing to help raise resources for Pan American Christian Academy (www.paca.com.br) and to market the school to potential families. He comes from a non-profit corporate background of direct mail fundraising. Despite being a former MK to Brazil and an alumnus from PACA, he never thought about becoming a missionary. Until God lead a woman into his life and some great mentors along the way to help him see the calling God had laid on his life. Along came an opportunity and a challenge of launching and developing the fundraising programs for Pan American Christian Academy. At school, he is part of a discipleship program with a group of students (helping them understand what God's Word has to say about life and life's issues) and helps lead worship for chapels and teacher's devotions. Trying to balance life out, he looks forward to going home and spending time with his lovely wife and son. Vanessa uses her gifts of cosmetology and creativity with children in very special ways. At home, she is raising our son Samuel (a five year old ball of energy) and managing the Flurry casa. She makes time for haircuts among our friends and the school's community. Coming from a very high end concept salon from San Marino, CA, she graciously gives her time to cutting hair (or hair sculpting) for a bargain price! Along the week, she helps lead a type of MOPS group at a local church and spends many evenings organizing the Junior Church program at our local church - Calvary International. For special school events at PACA, she spends many hours preparing hair for the student actors for the drama play or the student's hair for that special school dinner event. Both of us felt and saw God calling us to serve here in Brazil. This was also confirmed through our mentors and friends who are part of our life's journey with God. |
