BACK GROUND      
                                                    

CEFC – Toi is located in Toi market (Hawkers’ Market which attracts close to over 10,000 trading temporary stalls a suburb in the outskirts of Nairobi city Kenya. The area is close to Kibera (an informal settlement) attracting close to over 500,000 house holds thriving in abject poverty (the 2nd largest Slum in Africa.)


CHALLENGE



This presents a number of challenges for CEFC –Toi Ministries:

• Youths in Kibera who cannot afford quality Education most of whom cannot afford to make a living
• Hundreds of young girls (between 14 – 25 years) who drop out of school as a result of early pregnancy.

• Traditional African Religions and modern day subversive beliefs deeply entrenched in this area
• Hundreds of residents and children who cannot afford quality meals a day.
• Hundreds of children orphaned as a result of HIV / AIDS pandemic etc.

So how does one reach out with the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ in such an area? Mt.25:35. I was hungry and you gave e something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and  you clothed me I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will ask Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you? The Lord will answer, “I tell you the truth whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”.

It’s with these sobering words of the Lord that CEFC-Toi Ministries is founded on! We believe in being as practical as possible in our approach as we share our testimony with Kibera Residents. encompassed in this is our vision of ‘arise and shine for their light has come’.

We’d like to build CEFC – Toi Ministries into a safe haven where God’s grace, love and message can be experienced in the simplest and most practical way possible; one folks in this area can identify and relate to.

You can partner with us in a number of ways towards enabling us achieve God’s vision and mandate. In so doing you become part of the ripple effect in affecting and bringing change where change is needed most.
Kibera is a must visit for any one who wants to experience ‘first hand ministry’. It brings you face to face with the challenge at hand yet the most needful thing is to minister hope to these residents. It can be so overwhelming at first but the good thing is you’re bringing the Lord Jesus to where he’s needed most. Anyone in ministry or graduating to join ministry or desiring to be out there on the frontline/ cutting edge for the Lord Jesus CEFC-TOI would be the place you would consider using as a channel to reach out to communities in Kibera- Kenya. The interns from Adventures in Missions have successfully gone through our ministry internship program.
