To *stir salt into the bland culture and send light into the darkness.

YWAM Portland, a vision directed by God to Tierney Freeman.

Some main objectives and goals that have been put on my heart for the base in Portland:
To be a base that is actively stirring the non-Christian culture. What I mean by that is I want the base to be reaching out to the different scenes and sub-cultures that Portland has, and doing that in a way that is unique to those genres. This also means that the base will be in the city.
To stir the church, challenge them and send them out into all nations.
To champion the youth in leadership. I believe that God is calling our generation to have its own radical stories and experiences where we see Him comepletely glorified. That our generation is seeing the ills in society and wants to do something about it but lacks training, confidence, encouragement, and opportunity.
To purposefully pioneer new creative ministries and encourage new ideas giving anyone with a dream or vision to come and fulfill that calling using our base as a resource and the staff working interdependantly with one another.
Engage Portland: Each individual will actively pursue a scene and/or community that they feel called to, and bring him or her into our community.

Some ministries that I would love to see happen here. *
DTS: I love this ministry and really seeing it as being the heartbeat behind YWAM. I want it to run most like it does in YWAM Pismo Beach.
Music Studio/ Record Label: Portland is so immersed in the music scene that I think this will be an effective tool for outreach.
Music Library/ venue: A place for people to come hang out and listen to music.
Overseas Outreaches specifically for the different sub-cultures: I want to take different types of people overseas and use their looks, giftings and passion in a specific place where they can be used as tools. Even both Christian and non-chritsian
A ministry to the homosexual community
A ministry to women struggling with abortion, possibly a home and day care set up to practically help them, someone to walk them through
Training schools that are no more then three weeks to train staff and then send them back to their base
