Johndon & Amanda Castro

Our calling to inner city ministry happened at different times, but both began with a “Summer in the City” missions project.  Amanda went to the Los Angeles SITC Project in 1996 and Johndon to New York in 1999.  We committed our summer to work in the inner city meeting the spiritual and physical needs of the poor.  It was there that God gave us the chance to see what He was doing through the ministry of Here’s Life Inner City.  

During those summers the Lord broke each of our hearts for the “forgotten people” that live in our urban cities.  85% of fatherless children grow up there with gangs and drug dealers as their role models.  Many adults have lost their hope and have been beaten down by the harshness of the city.  

Our desire is to bring hope and eternal life to urban people with the love of Jesus.  God has gifted us with the opportunity to come along side Him and help change lives.

Amanda has been serving with Here’s Life Inner City since 1997.  Johndon did an internship in 2001, with Los Angeles and came of staff in April 2002.  This is where our friendship blossomed and we got married in September 2002.

We have a daugher, Gabriella Grace, who was born November 7, 2005 and Josiah Amado, who was born January 24, 2007.

We are desiring to purchase a house in the city of Compton.  They have some great government programs which we are hoping to take advantage of.  Please pray with us for God to provide the perfect home for our family.
