Ministry Description
Purpose
Reformed Campus Fellowship (RCF) exists to reach college students for Christ and to equip students to serve on their campuses. Achieving this goal requires Covenant Seminary interns to know and live out the Reformed Unviversity Fellowship Philosophy of Ministry. The Kirk of the Hills desires to train interns to serve Christ’s church in RUF or another ministry after graduation. Philosophy of Ministry The RUF Philosophy of Ministry that RCF emulates is a biblical model for evangelism and discipleship that emphasizes four principles: 1) Scripture, 2) Justification, 3) Sanctification, and 4) Glorification. Our vision for the spiritual growth of students comes from Scripture’s emphasis on 1) Growth in Grace, 2) Fellowship and Service, 3) Evangelism and Missions, and 4) a Biblical World-and-Life View. Our philosophy of ministry keeps us grounded in the Bible and frees us to develop whatever methods and strategies would work best with each campus. We long to see the university flourish with students dedicated to their studies and the pursuit of godliness in every area of their lives. History In the autumn of 2001, Kyle Parker (MDiv ’03) launched Reformed Campus Fellowship (RCF) with the guidance of The Kirk of the Hills Senior Pastor Dr. W. Wilson Benton, Jr., and under the direction of The Kirk of the Hills Session. Kyle initially recruited four Covenant Seminary students to reach college students on area campuses using the RUF model of ministry. The ministry began with The Kirk’s own college students and spread to Maryville University, Lindenwood University, Webster University, and The University of Missouri-St Louis (UMSL).
Our Beliefs
The basis of our beliefs is the Bible, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Bible is God's holy Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is fully sufficient in all matters on which it speaks. We believe that the Bible was written without error (inerrant) in its original manuscripts, and is infallible & authoritative in all matters of faith and practice. We feel that what we believe the Bible teaches can be summarized accurately in secondary texts that Christians throughout various historical and cultural contexts have looked to as accurate summaries of Biblical teaching. While these secondary texts are no replacement for God's Word, we find that they are helpful in describing and teaching the particulars of our beliefs. These secondary texts to which we subscribe include the following: The Westminster Confession of Faith The Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy The Nicene Creed The Apostles' Creed
