Ministry Description
Turning Lost Students Into Christ-centered Laborers
Right now I am a Junior at Southeastern Louisiana University. My ministry here is to capture the hearts of college students at SLU with Christ's love for them. The Mission The mission that God has set forth for us is to focus our ministry toward the freshman class every year. The reason we are doing this is for the fact that every person that goes to college has one thing in common. They all were part of the freshman class at one time. If we reach every freshmen, every year. In four to five years we will have put the gospel in arms reach of every student setting foot on our campus. Think about it this way. If you reach everyone in your neighborhood for Christ who would be the only people that you have to reach? It would be only people who move into the neighborhood. This is the philosophy that we are taking.

Branson, MO Here I Come Again!; I'm Walkin' to New Orleans (4/2/08) Between May 19th and July 4th I will be in Branson, MO joining a team of Campus Crusade for Christ staff working to invest into the lives of college students from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma on the Ozark Lakes Summer Project. Our goal is to help them to first walk with God for a life time and second develop their ministry skills so they can better reach their campuses while attending their universities. This opportunity excites me because last summer I was a student on the Ozark Lakes Summer Project where my life was changed in an amazing way. Since then God has used me in some amazing ways. When I return from Branson, MO the remainder of the next 12 months will be spent in the city of New Orleans. As we all know New Orleans is a hurting city that needs help. From July 2008 to June 2009 I will be interning with the staff team, which has been in New Orleans for 2 years now. God has moved in New Orleans in a mighty way during the first two years. I have seen it at the student level while I have been attending Southeastern Louisiana University where I will be graduating at the end of this spring but around the New Orleans Metro area we have seen the ministry grow from no campuses to 9 campuses just in two years. We now have about 180 students involved in the New Orleans Metro area ministry. We also have a relief team in place that focuses on bringing relief to the people of the New Orleans community as well. So here I go just a walkin' to New Orleans! Support Raising(5/9/07) For my summer project I have to raise $2,650. So far I have raised about $895. I know God will provide the funds for me to complete this project through my friends, family, churches and other ways. I've sent out letters asking people to support me in this ministry opportunity and have recieved some support. Also I'm asking that everyone would pray for the summer project that it is sucessful in its purpose and that God would provide all the financial support that I need to go on this summer project. Summer Project(5/9/07) So I'll be off to Branson, Missouri for about 11 1/2 weeks this summer. I'll be leaving May 18th and I'll be back on August 6th where I'll be part of the Adventure team. I'll plan and schedule all the Friday Adventure days for the whole summer along with three other people that will be on the team with me. This summer project will be full of ministry opportunities and growth in my walk with God. This project will offer an incredible, life-changing experience that will shape my character and focus my life's mission. |
